Why would you keep the eggs on the fridge?

we keep our eggs in the fridge…so they don’t denature? do you not refrigerate your eggs?

Because of the way our eggs are processed and the prevalence of salmonella in american chickens, americans have to fridge their eggs.

Thorin and Thranduil

I now want to draw Thorin and Thranduil as literal angry cats thank you good night

(via hackedmotionsensors)

extoria:

I found Thranduil very reptilian and reminiscsent of Smaug in the Hobbit film. His movements seemed lizard-like; he acted very cold towards the other people he interacted with (not just the dwarves but Tauriel and Legolas too); he acts with the same confidence in his kingship as Smaug; and his crown seems reminiscent of the spikes on Smaug that you can sort of see in the image below

and more clearly in this fantastic drawing by Christopher Burdett for a Hobbit expansion to the LOTR card game.

Do you think this is deliberate, picking up elements of Smaug to mirror in Thranduil?

I both utterly love and hate the way he’s so often portrayed as very forbidding, but I can’t really make a case for him not to be, hahaha. I don’t like comparing him to Smaug though, I don’t really think of Thranduil as a king sitting on a hoard, more like his kingdom is isolated from the rest of Arda for the protection of his people and even moreso now as the Necromancer returns and they’re fighting the encroaching Shadow.
But I totally see the similarities even if I don’t agree with it.
Thranduil’s pretty much a later, less extreme, edition of Thingol, who had a stronghold in a forest much like in Mirkwood and Thranduil is ppossibly old enough to remember the feud between the Dwarves and Thingol over one of the Silmarils and the former refusing up the jewel after Thingol had paid for it. That ended in bloodshed, with Thingol dead and Doriath fallen, so there’s probably no end of distrust as it is, from Thranduil’s point-of-view. I don’t know if you’ve read the book but it is kind of a moral tale anyway, like Lord of the Rings after it.
IMO, they’re all as fucking bad as each other. Thorin was offered a deal, which he should have taken up, but their mutual distrust of each other, might have eventually led to the battle anyway.
I don’t know if any of this even made any sense, but tl:dr, I don’t think he should be compared to Smaug, but yes, in the film there are definitely parallels.
